Gene Hackman, pianist spouse Betsy Arakawa, and dog all dead

No foul play is suspected, and they were found dead in a police wellness check.

Gene Hackman I always remember as Lex Luther to Christopher Reeve's Superman. One of the articles mentions that Gene and Betsy were known for having German Shepherds. Yes, I am concerned about all three being dead at once.

Further investigation: 2 of their 3 dogs survived.

I expect it was a CO poisoning. Very tragic.

that was my thought as well. Especially with the dog dead and the po-po not suspicious. *Something* loose in the house without their knowing it. Tragedy.

2 of 3 dogs survived. Doggy door and carbon monoxide poisoning sounds correct to me right now.

Yes, I have a 65 pound rescue dog, and since Hackman rescued at least one of his dogs, I'm going to hope that he'd be pleased that two survived him.

Apparently the police tested for CO and found nothing, but it was after some time had passed so that might not prove anything.

The other possibility is that there are mine workings in the area, and heavy rainfall has been known to flood mines, driving carbon dioxide to the surface. Albeit rarely, but ti's possible and wouldn't leave traces.
