For anyone who might want to attend by Zoom up here:

A memorial service will be held at the synagogue on Sunday, April 10th at 4:00 pm. The service will also be available by Zoom at the following Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZIkc-yuqT8iHdy7Px6T-JuOyq6H2Vusjf5j

The family is requesting that everyone who attends in person be vaccinated and masked in the Sanctuary. There will be a meal of consolation outside under the tent following the memorial service.

Here’s what’s going into the Press Of Atlantic City:

Ronald R. Petlev (January 23, 1949 - April 2, 2022) was born in Philadelphia and raised in Atlantic City. A graduate of Atlantic City High School and Drexel University, he was a CPA, past president of Congregation Beth Israel in Northfield and the AC Jaycees, and once active in Avoda Club and the Justice Lodge #285 of the Freemasons. He moved first to Denton, Texas, and, after his wife of 36 years passed, to Moncure, North Carolina where he died peacefully after a long illness. Predeceased by his first wife Natalie, both parents Harry Petlev and Shirley Brenner, his brother Leonard and first sister-in-law Ricki, and his oldest nephew Jordan, he is survived by his second wife Maria (Sonny), his three children Stacey, Steven, Daria, their spouses, four grandchildren, five stepchildren and their families, two more nephews, and many family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. Services will be held privately.

Anything anyone can get me about the Rappahannock Native Americans: death, grieving, and mourning customs would be greatly appreciated. I offered to speak at whatever memorial service is done, as interfaith rabbinic pastor ordination student and friend of the family.

My friend's mom died while having the cardiac surgery I expected for myself since I was ten years old. No, I'm not good right now, but I don't want to upset anyone's ancestors either, so I'm asking for help and hopefully respectfully. I might contact the public phone number for the Rappahannock Nation, but to do that, about probably a very well known cousin (My friend's grandfather was either Chief or an Elder for the Rappahannock, his children should have known names, even if not enrolled) has shades of Germans sending condolences to me about my cousins dead in the Holocaust.

I understand circles of grief. Comfort in, reaching is outwards. I know people here, who know other Native Nations at least.

FB death notice by my friend phrased as: At 1:19 today, P K joined the ancestors. May she be remembered always.

First this morning, I get an email and find out a maternal British cousin we called Uncle had passed away last Tuesday, and it's already the last day of Shiva there. Many thanks to [personal profile] siliconshaman for helping me research what he could, and I didn't know British sources. We didn't even have his proper address! We kept in touch by email and visits when possible.

Second, my brother calls and my paternal first cousin, the one who taught me about BBSes and gaming, had passed away suddenly last night. We have already lost all grandparents, his parents our aunt and uncle, and my mother. He had just gotten married this year and his wife is expecting their son in 40 days.

I am a wreck, but making plans to get to his services.
